I constantly hear the question - why does it matter how I breath? I am breathing does it matter how I do it? This comes from the perception that because one is automatically in-taking air into the lungs and that one is still alive that everything is OK with their breathing. However this is far from true. How we breath is not only just important for our physical health but emotional, mental and spiritual health. Lets look at one particular breathing issue called Sleep Apnea. Sleep Apnea is caused by the blockage of the airways during sleep causing one not to get enough air into the body. Over the long term this causes lots of physical health issues such as increased likely-hood of heart attack and stoke, loss of memory, anxiety, concentration problems and more. Breathing does more then just keeps us alive. It helps the subconscious mind in regulating the nervous system. The way we breath tells the brain what is happening in our environment. If we over breath it tells the brain that we need to run to avoid danger. This tells the brain to increase the nervous system and hormones. If we under breath this tells the brain that there is an issue with our environment. This is what causes anxiety. Anxiety is an ever increasing problem in the modern world. Science has now shown that by under breathing not only does it cause anxiety but by under breathing we cannot supply enough oxygen to the brain. This causes the brain to lose memory or not able to recall. This is how people deal with past childhood issues / trauma and the knock-about life gives us in Adult hood - that is by under breathing. By decreasing our breath we cannot recall the events and therefore the issue is not able to complete or resolve itself. That does not mean the issue goes away - it just means that the event gets stored in our subconscious mind waiting for us to deal with it at a later date. Our subconscious mind is always trying to find ways for us to resolve these issues by bringing up issues in our life through events or our behaviors. Breathing also does two other things - 1. The correct intake of breath allows us to intake energy or Chi / Prana in the eastern world. This allows us to have the energy to complete things in life. I find that when I need to complete something that is stressful the increase of my breathing gives me the energy and focus to complete the task while my colleagues are unable to complete the same task. 2. 70 % of toxins leave via the breath. When we do not breath in the correct way this decreases and leaves toxins trapped in our body causing physical disease / illness in the long run. The way we breath is the way we conduct our life. Breathing is such a big part of many activities such as Yoga & meditation, sports, exercise, singing, playing music. Breathing even affects Snipers in getting their targets. It is not possible for us to be constantly aware of our breathing in all moments. Also if we were to practice breathing in the correct manner eventually unresolved events & traumas from the past will arise to be dealt with. With work, family and other activities this can cause them to come up in the most unfortunate time. A lot of people are not equipped to deal with these issues on their own without support which is why the issue was never dealt with in the first place. Booking a breathwork session with myself will allow you to undertake the practice of breathing in a safe and supported environment where any issues that are brought up are able to be dealt with on the spot with my support and guidance. The amount that is dealt with in the session is released from our memories forever and no longer have an impact on your life.
